As rap continues to dominate the charts in Germany, Apple Music expands Charlie Sloth’s series Fire in the Booth freestyle to market

Apple Music is expanding Fire in the Booth, the popular rap platform created by hip-hop DJ Charlie Sloth, to Germany.

Starting Monday (May 16), the rap show, which has racked up over 1.4 billion views (via Apple Music and YouTube), will be released on Apple Music in Germany by DJ Maxxxx as part of Apple’s HYPED playlist and hip-hop label. Music.

The launch of Fire in the Booth on Apple Music in Germany comes at a pivotal time for hip-hop music on the market.

Over the past two years, local hip-hop (also known as Deutschrap) has become a dominant force on the charts in Germany.

German rappers Bonez MC and Luciano took first and second place on Spotify’s list of streaming artists in the market in 2021, respectively.

Meanwhile, this week, local hip-hop shows took the top three on the official singles chart in Germany.

The record German business made $2 billion for the second year in a row in 2021.

Apple Music says the German spin-off of the Freestyle franchise will feature rap talent, from house names to future stars recording exclusive free tracks inside the newly launched Apple Music studio in Berlin.

The German chain continues The Booth’s recent global expansion which saw Charlie Sloth break free records in Dubai, Jamaica and the USA.

Charlie Sloth previously released three German shows Fire in the Booth on Apple Music, with Luciano in May 2020, Aisha Vibes (October 2020) and Kelvyn Colt, in January 2021.

He also collaborated with Kelvyn Colt on his music version and is one of the first artists to incorporate MC’s in the UK, US and Germany on the same track (get it It houses the Kelvyn Colt, Abra Cadabara and Gunna).

DJ Maxx, who was personally selected by Charlie Sloth as the new face of “HYPED Presents Fire in the Booth Germany”, was described in a media statement as “a proud ambassador and key influence on the German rap scene.”

Macxxx hosts some of the biggest hip-hop nights in Berlin (including his party series at 808 Club), and is also the rapper/support tour for Haftbefehl and Ufo.

Presented by German rapper taster Arya Ngati (on Wednesdays), Apple Music’s “HYPED” show will also include an accompanying interview with each of the participating Fire in the Booth artists.

“HYPED Presents Fire in the Booth Germany” will be available on Apple Music via its audio and video playlist.

“There is a lot of talent in Germany at the moment and it will give the artist community a platform to showcase their skills to the world.”

DJ Maxx added, “I’ve been following Fire in the Booth for years and have always been a huge fan. Charlie is Charlie and that’s what sets him apart. He’s a real host and a hype guy.”

“The German scene has exploded over the years, it’s well known all over the world now and it’s a big business. That’s great but it often shifts the focus from music to other things.

“Fire in the Booth puts the focus back on something really important to the culture. Back to the very essence of rap. One Mic.”
