Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2

  • (Old) Updates may appear as failed and may be uninstalled because the device is not on ESU.
  • (legacy) Certain operations such as renaming may fail on group shared volumes.
    • Execute the operation from a process with administrator privileges.
    • Perform the operation from a node that does not have ownership of the CSV.

Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2

  • (legacy) Certain operations such as renaming may fail on group shared volumes.
    • Execute the operation from a process with administrator privileges.
    • Perform the operation from a node that does not have ownership of the CSV.
  • (legacy) Issues with applications that use the “Microsoft .NET Framework to obtain or set Active Directory Forest trust information”. These may fail, shut down, or result in error messages such as Access Violation (0xc0000005).
    • Install out-of-band updates for the version of the .NET Framework that the application in question is using. Microsoft has links to it on the support page.

Windows 10 versions 20H2, 21H1, and 21H2

  • (Old) Custom installs may not receive the new Microsoft Edge web browser, while the old version may be removed.
  • (Legacy) Some devices cannot install updates after installing KB5003690 (June 21, 2021). The PSFX_E_MATCHING_BINARY_MISSING error is displayed.
    • Workaround instructions are available here.
  • (Legacy) After installing the January 11, 2022 or later updates, recovery discs on a CD or DVD that were created with the Backup and Restore tool (Windows 7) may not start. Previously created recovery discs are not affected.
    • Microsoft is working on a solution.
  • (New) Snip & Sketch may fail to take screenshots or may fail to open with a keyboard shortcut after installing the February 8, 2022 update.
