“The Horror Film Directed by Mark Jenkins Without Any Horror” is a tense reflection on gentrification in a Cornish fishing village. The film, starring Edward Roe as a struggling fisherman, deals with the tensions that arise between locals and tourists as the pier becomes increasingly expensive for working-class fishermen. Jenkins shot Taste On a vintage Bolex camera and he developed everything manually, adding to the tension in the film. I showed it to Dungeness Beach to a mix of vacationers and residents.”

“French artist and director Leos Carax’s first English-language feature is a stunningly absurd and ambitious (and almost entirely sung) melodrama set to an all-new soundtrack by Sparks. In it, Adam Driver plays troubled actor Henry McHenry alongside Marion Cotillard, who plays The role of the refined soprano Ann. Together, they form a charming albeit unlikely pair, with seemingly little in common but their love for each other. Their relatively comfortable life in Los Angeles is turned upside down after the arrival of Annette, a single daughter with an unusual gift, which she plays dummy “.

In 1966, Michelangelo Antonioni took existential boredom to the swinging streets of London for his first English-language film, starring David Hemmings as a London fashion photographer believed to have mistakenly captured a murder in film. Antonioni’s precise aesthetic control and color palette bring life to every frame, set to an insanely beautiful soundtrack by Herbie Hancock and a beautifully elusive performance by Vanessa Redgrave. There’s also a cameo from the Yardbirds making it a classic ’60s title.
