In the iOS app, you can enable dark mode on Snapchat with a few simple steps using the in-app setting options.

  1. Open the Snapchat app on your iPhone
  2. Tap the Bitmoji icon at the top left of the screen (the profile picture)
  3. Click on the Settings icon in the upper right corner
  4. Under “My Account” settings, click on “Appearance”
  5. Under this menu, tap on the “Always dark” option
  6. Your Snapchat app will launch

How to turn on dark mode on Android

Like iPhones, there is no in-app option to enable dark mode on Snapchat. For that, we will be using a setting under the phone’s display settings to enable dark mode. These steps only apply to OnePlus, Oppo, Reamle, and Vivo smartphones.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to “Display and Brightness”
  3. Tap on “Dark Mode Settings”
  4. Tap on “Dark Mode for Third-Party Apps (Beta)”
  5. Scroll down and enable the toggle for Snapchat
  6. Dark mode will be applied to Snapchat

Noticeable: We tested this method on OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo and Realme phones and it worked for all. In case you have other phones, you can try to follow the same steps but if that doesn’t work, you can use the method mentioned below and enable dark mode.

How to turn on dark mode on any Android phone

If you are using any other smartphones other than Oppo, OnePlus and Vivo, you are forced to enable dark mode by following the steps mentioned below:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Scroll down and find “Build Number”
  4. Press the build number seven times continuously
  5. You will receive a toast saying “You are now a developer”
  6. Go back to settings
  7. Go to System and tap Developer Options
  8. Scroll down and look for the “override force-dark” option
  9. Enable the option by turning on the toggle
  10. Once you enable this, your Snapchat app will be switched to dark mode

Enabling the Dark Force Override option will basically flip the color scheme on your phone and the apps on the phone will come with bold text with bright text. This will affect all apps, not just the Snapchat app.

Noticeable: After the new update, the Snapchat app has changed the theme to dark.
