TSMC’s chip supplier business at Apple is expected to grow nearly 25 percent this year as the transition to Apple’s silicon nears completion and the relationship between the two companies solidifies, DigiTimes reports.

Apple is said to expect shipments of chips for new iPhones and other devices from TSMC in the first half of June, according to sources who spoke to DigiTimes. In addition to annual chip growth for iPhones in 2022, TSMC is also expected to “significantly” grow its shipments of M-series chips as Apple completes the transition to its own dedicated silicon chips and “will completely wean itself off Intel CPUs this year.” for her Mac series.”

The report added that TSMC is expected to remain the sole supplier of Apple chips for the foreseeable future, as Samsung has problems with advanced throughput performance and Intel is unlikely to take orders from Apple.

In total, TSMC is estimated to generate $17 billion in revenue individually from fulfilling Apple orders in 2022, up from $13.8 billion in 2021. Although Apple’s semiconductor manufacturing supply chain is “still slightly affected” by the shutdown In China, however, other parts of Apple’s supply chain could be severely affected depending on how long the shutdowns last, which the report predicts could force Apple to delay the launch of new iPhone models this year.

Moreover, Apple is said to have already placed orders for 2nm chips to be fulfilled by TSMC in 2025. The report also claims that Apple and TSMC are jointly developing 1nm chips for use in head-mounted augmented reality devices and Apple’s car project.
