Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk has revealed his priorities for improving Twitter if it succeeds in taking control of the social media platform. Among his promises are eliminating random crypto bots, ensuring freedom of expression, implementing editing functions, and simplifying the account verification process.
Elon Musk’s Twitter Optimization Priorities
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and Spacex, has shared how he plans to improve Twitter if his bid to buy the social media giant is successful.
Musk agreed with a tweet on Friday that he would focus on solving “real problems.” The tweet specifically mentions making Twitter’s algorithm open source, eliminating scams, adhering to freedom of speech, and simplifying the account verification process. The Tesla chief has previously addressed each of these improvements in more detail.
Unwanted crypto bot problem
There is a major issue on Twitter with annoying bots. Earlier this month, the Tesla boss said that in his opinion, random crypto bots are “the single most annoying problem with Twitter.”
Musk tweeted Thursday: “If our Twitter show works, we’ll defeat the spam bots or die trying!” He added that he would also “certify all real human beings”.
Job Editing, Dogecoin Payment, Freedom of Expression
He also discussed the tweet editing function in some detail this month, as well as running a survey to ask his Twitter followers if they want an edit button. Over 4.4 million votes were counted, and 73.6% indicated that they did.
Freedom of expression is another big focus for Musk. He started reaching out to his Twitter followers in March about owning a social media platform with freedom of expression as a priority. “Given that Twitter serves as a de facto public square for the town, failure to adhere to the principles of free speech fundamentally undermines democracy. What needs to be done?” Musk asked at the time.
In addition, Musk also proposed making dogecoin (DOGE) a payment option for Twitter’s blue service. He has been a supporter of the cryptocurrency meme. He believes that dogecoin is the cryptocurrency for people and is best suited for transactions. His electric car company, Tesla, is currently accepting DOGE for some merchandise.
Tesla CEO has acquired a 9.2% stake in Twitter Inc. earlier this month. Promising to make “significant improvements” to Twitter, he was to join the social media giant’s board of directors but later decided not to.
Musk has embarked on an offer to buy 100% of Twitter for $54.20 a share in cash, according to his filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). However, Twitter responded by adopting a limited-term shareholder plan, often called a “poison pill”. This week, Musk said he raised $46.5 billion to fund his bid to buy Twitter and take over the company.
