Kate Garaway hugs the nurse after realizing she’s taking care of her husband Derek Draper live on GMB

Kate Garraway lost words after realizing she was sitting across from the nurse who saved her husband Derek Draper’s life, during a Friday morning in Britain.

The 54-year-old broadcaster interviewed Michael Rosen, 75, and former caregiver Beth Dixon, who worked in the intensive care unit while in a coma with Covid in 2020.

Derek, also 54, returned home from the hospital in April 2021 after a year-long battle with the virus, and he still needs around-the-clock care in the midst of his long recovery.

“I’m so overwhelmed!” Kate Garraway lost words after realizing she was sitting across from the nurse who saved her husband Derek Draper’s life, during a GMB on Friday.

Beth wrote the author’s letters when he was unconscious to help when he woke up, but the pair had never met.

The group’s ITV morning show welcomed her as a surprise, before it emerged that Michael and her husband Derek were only two beds away from each other.

Asking Beth if she would take care of her husband, she replied, “I would have taken care of him, yes, we did everything we could.”

Her response left Kate emotional as she stood up and hugged Beth, and she thanked her, saying, ‘Oh my God, that’s cool. By the way, thank you very much.

She reveals how Derek can say some words, but not quite express himself, she shares: “In a sense, Derek has – because of Covid – a version of this where he can understand, sometimes utter strange words, but can’t express himself.”
